No Escape

No Escape

The world is at war again, though I don't think it ever stopped; feels like decades.

I used to know who was fighting for what, but I have no idea who's who these days. I'm in the mind of burying my head in the sand, seems like the safest bet.

Stanley Kubrick joked he would move to Australia because nukes can't reach here. This was around the Cold War days, I believe.

I think of the film Dr. Strangelove but also War Games; where the film didn't know which genre to land in due to directors coming and going. War as a game to those in the Situation Room. Then my mind flicks to the X-Files episode, Kill Switch.

Uploading your consciousness to the cloud seemed far fetched, and that was only the 90s. Now, we replicate of likenesses, voices and opinions just so 'we' can exist somewhere, online, in the ether.

We can't even really bury our heads online for distraction, echo chambers the ruler of people's attention and decisions. The majority unaware what they have created for themselves. Could The Simpson's have had the answer all along: "just don't look"?

The worldly matters of war and politics continue to fly by over my head while I am still trying to make a world that I want to live in; 'futile endeavours' as Radiohead created (their latest LLC) (probably not in relation though the timing seems right).

There are some people who believe robots will be the destroyers of humanity but that is, of course, if humans don't do it to themselves first.
